PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Midpoint of first quarter
Next Friday, October 10th, marks the midpoint of the first quarter. This is an excellent opportunity to check in on your child’s academic progress. We encourage you to use Schoology to review your child(ren)’s current grades and assignments. (If you need support in accessing schoology, reach out to Mr. Reynolds at treynolds@sharonsprings.org)
If you have any concerns or questions, now is a great time to reach out to their teachers via email. Open communication between home and school is key to supporting your child(ren)’s success, and our staff is here to help in any way we can.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child(ren)’s education.
Character Strength – Open-Mindedness
This week, our school focused on the character strength of Open-Mindedness. This means being willing to consider new ideas and try new things. It involves looking at situations from all sides and not jumping to conclusions.
Open-mindedness is about seeking out and fairly weighing evidence, even if it goes against our own opinions or goals. Open-minded people listen to different viewpoints, including those that are less popular. They are often good listeners and provide balanced advice, which makes them great friends and confidants. This strength helps individuals form meaningful and lasting relationships.
To practice and encourage the character strength of open-mindedness at home, please visit the Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families. There, you will watch a video clip together and discuss a quote and three questions related to open-mindedness.
Thank you for your support!
Thank you for your continued support!
ANNUAL DRILL OF THE SCHOOL SAFETY PLAN
Section 155.7 of the Amendment to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education requires that school districts conduct annual drills to exercise their Building Level School Safety Plan. Sharon Springs CSD will carry out a practice drill (early dismissal) no more than 15 minutes before the normal dismissal time. This practice will be conducted on Friday, October 11th, 2024 at 2:37 pm. If you have any further questions about this drill or about your school’s safety plans, please contact Thomas Yorke at (518)-284-2266.
PARENTS OF THE SENIOR CLASS OF 2025
It is hard to believe that we are talking about Graduation already! Please be advised that we recently sent a list to the Senior Homeroom requesting they submit their names as they will appear on their diplomas. We have urged our Seniors to discuss this with their parents before writing their name on the list. We encourage you to discuss this with your Senior so everyone will be satisfied with what is on the diploma. Thank you.
WILL YOU HELP FEED THE CANDY MONSTER?
There is a CANDY MONSTER roaming the halls of Sharon Springs Central School that feeds on Candy! (and possibly children, we aren’t too sure yet!) You can find it in new locations throughout the building between October 7- October 25! We are looking for donations of candy to help our Trunk or Treat Event on Halloween from 5-7! All donations can be placed inside the Monster’s Belly or left at the front desk.
We want to make sure we have enough candy for all of the little ghouls, goblins, monster and more who come to Trunk or Treat so any donations would be greatly appreciated! The Sharon Springs PTO & After School Program Thank You in advance for your continued support to our school and our community.
