Principal’s Message
There will not be a Weekly Bulletin next week due to the Thanksgiving break.
Here are a couple of quick reminders:
K – 5 Parents are welcome to join us for November’s Morning Program this Friday (11/17), with a special section dedicated to our Military Veterans.
Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for next Monday (11/20), 6pm to 8pm OR Tuesday (11/21), 1pm to 3pm.
-
- Thanks to our amazing PTO, childcare is available both days.
- Parents with students in grades K – 6 need to schedule a conference with their child’s teacher.
- Parents with students in grades 7 – 12 can simply visit their child’s teachers between the times outlined above.
If you visit the school between 7:30am and 5:00pm, please enter in the visitor entrance to get a visitor pass. This also applies to visiting the school playground.
Student Focus
Dear Families,
This week and next week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of gratitude. Gratitude means you are aware of and thankful for good things that happen.
Gratitude is the quality of feelings and expressing thankfulness and appreciation. It is an affirmation that there is goodness in other people and the world and that we have received that goodness. People with the strength of gratitude have a readiness to show appreciation for kindness and also to return kindness. A leading expert, Robert Emmons, calls gratitude a “relationship-strengthening emotion because it requires us to see how we’ve been supported and affirmed by other people.”
Out of all 24 character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is correlated with increased energy, empathy, happiness and optimism. And, the great thing about gratitude is that it can be intentionally cultivated. Numerous studies have concluded that gratitude is like a muscle. The more you practice it, the stronger it gets — and the more you’re able to reap its benefits.
To practice and encourage the character strength of gratitude with your child, please regularly ask your child: “What are you thankful for?” Please also let them know what you are thankful for. With that said, I am so thankful for each of our students, parents, and staff!
Have a wonderful week and Happy Thanksgiving!
