PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
A School Community Focus on Kindness
Dear Families,
This week, our school community focussed on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means being generous to others, never being too busy to help out, and you enjoy doing good deeds for other people.
Kindness is based on the belief that everyone deserves care, attention, and compassion. Kind people think about others’ needs and feelings and take action to help. They are selfless, helping others because it’s the right thing to do, not for any personal gain.
People who are kind have a strong sense of duty to care for others. Their acts of kindness inspire more kindness in return. To practice and encourage the character strength of kindness at home, please give your child(ren) examples of kindness you engage in as well as opportunities for them to show kindness.
Thank you!
Mr. Yorke
Upcoming Emergency Response Drills
At SSCS, we will be conducting a series of Emergency Response Drills over the next two weeks. These drills are an important component of our district’s safety plan, as required by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
We understand the importance of being mindful of our students’ social and emotional well-being during these drills. All drills will be conducted in a way that prioritizes their safety and comfort while effectively preparing them for potential emergencies.
To keep you informed, we will send a text message when a drill begins and another message once it concludes.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and prepared learning environment.
FALL/WINTER RECESS PREPAREDNESS
Now that our weather is colder, a reminder to K-5 parents and students to make sure they are prepared for outdoor recess time. (Snow boots, snow pants, hats, gloves/mittens and warm coats.) Please make sure your K-5 child has warm weather attire each day to go outside so they can participate in recess. If there is a financial need for any of these items please either send a note in with your child or email mkeaney@sharonsprings.org.
COMPUTERS AVAILABLE
All-in-One computers available from the school. If your household qualifies for free or reduced school lunch and you would like a computer for your household, please contact Tom Reynolds at treynolds@sharonsprings.org or (518) 284-2266.
