Officers from the SSCS Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter headed to Marathon in Central New York on Saturday to attend a new FFA Leadership Series called Ignite.
This conference drew more than 400 middle and high school students from all over the area. FFA is a youth organization that prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
SSCS eighth graders Sophia Insogna, Madison Lynk and Payton Rullman attended the Spark conference. Spark is designed to engage younger members in learning about the many opportunities there are in FFA, evaluate their own personal skills and interests and set goals for their futures.
SSCS high schooler Hunter Bolster attended the FFA Fuel conference designed for 9th-12th grade students. Fuel encourages self-leadership, growth and success, while offering opportunities to build networks with other FFA members/officers.
Accompanying our students was SSCS FAA Advisor/Teacher Anne Allen, who attended two conference workshops and an FFA advisor meeting. This winter conference was very worthwhile for SSCS students, Allen said. “Not only did our Sharon Springs members meet new friends, but they came home with great ideas for our chapter activities this year.”
