Student members of the SSCS Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter showcased their excellence at the FBLA State Leadership Conference, held in Rochester, April 8-11. The conference hosted more than 800 students, all vying for the top spots in various events. And SSCS FBLA students didn’t just participate, they outperformed their competitors to earn multiple awards.
The impressive performances of these young business leaders landed some of them spots in the upcoming FBLA National Leadership Conference/Competition to be held in Anaheim, California from June 29 to July 2. This recognition is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Attending the state conference were SSCS chapter members Ava Jump (FBLA District 4 Vice President), Yasmin Issa (FBLA State Secretary), Peyton Barbic, Kaylee Crewell, Madison Lynk, Tyler Lyon, Griffin Pizza, Devin Tissiere and Clayton VanPatten. They were accompanied by their FBLA chaperones Jennifer Field and Cyle Conley.
SSCS members won the following awards at the 2025 state competition:
- Word Processing: First place, Ava Jump
- Computer Applications: First place, Griffin Pizza
- Intro to Word Processing: First place, Kaylee Crewell
- Intro to Decision Making: Second place, Kaylee Crewell
- Accounting II: Second place, Ava Jump and third place, Yasmin Issa
- Intro to Business Concepts: Third place, Clayton VanPatten
- Business Law: Fourth place, Ava Jump
- Public Speaking: Fifth place, Yasmin Issa
- Impromptu Speaking: Fifth place, Devin Tissiere
FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. New York State has a 170 FBLA chapters with student membership at 5,600.
