After three days of preparation, the Pastel Tres Leches aka three milk cake was ready to be served Friday for the traditional Mexican celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Day of the Dead is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory through food and socialization. To that end, members the Spanish Club have been busy since Wednesday making the Pastel Tres Leches – a traditional Latin American dessert found in nearly every Mexican bakery and restaurant. Tres Leches features three types of milk: whole milk, condensed milk, and evaporated milk, topped with sweet whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon.
SSCS students and staff enjoyed the treat and with many giving the “thumbs up!” Thank you to Melissa Simpson and the food services team for guiding our young chefs through the creation process. Also thanks to our Spanish Club members for their hard work: Maya Korona, Madison Lynk, Isabella Cornwell, Tyler Lyon, Evani Patel, Clayton VanPatten and Yasmin Issa.
