Manko Named Valedictorian, Rechnitzer Salutatorian of SSCS Class of 2024

Sharon Springs Central School District is proud to announce that Jayna Manko is the Valedictorian and Elijah Rechnitzer is the Salutatorian of the graduating Class of 2024.

Jayna Manko, Valedictorian of the Class of 2024

Jayna Manko, the daughter of Michael and Christine Manko, is the Valedictorian of the SSCS Class of 2024. She has attended Sharon Springs Central School since Kindergarten and has been consistent in her unwavering commitment to academic excellence over the years. Jayna is a member of the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society, and has served as President of the Class of 2024 since eighth grade. She has participated and held office in multiple extracurricular activities including the Poetry Festival, Youth as Leaders, Band, Spanish Club, Varsity Club, Yearbook, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and more. At this year’s FBLA State Leadership Conference Jayna earned first place in two competitions and fourth place in another competition. In addition, Jayna has played basketball throughout her time at SSCS, receiving the award for Most Improved during her Junior year. Jayna has volunteered at local food drives, school dinners, and the local library. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her family and friends. Jayna will be attending State University at Oswego this fall and majoring in Creative Writing with a minor in Journalism.

Elijah Rechnitzer – Class of 2024 Salutatorian

Elijah Rechnitzer, Salutatorian of the Class of 2024

Elijah Rechnitzer is the Salutatorian of the SSCS Class of 2024. Elijah the son of Jack Rechnitzer of Massapequa Park, Long Island and Cheryl Rechnitzer of Middleburgh. He has attended Sharon Springs Central School since Kindergarten. Through his years at SSCS he has remained committed to his academics and extracurricular activities. These include the National Honor Society, the Math Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA, the SSCS High School Band, the SSCS Theater Club. During his sophomore year Elijah placed first and second in two competitions at the FBLA state level. When he is not in school you can find Elijah working at the Brimstone Bakery, playing guitar or outside with a camera. Elijah will attend the State University at Oneonta in the fall to pursue a degree in Chemistry.
