SSCS junior Aaden Dennis has a real interest in the Welding industry as he studies in the Welding and Metal Fabrication program offered by Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education, Schoharie campus.
CTE Welding Technology is a two-year program aligned with American Welding Society standards and designed to help students gain basic welding, fabricating, math and problem-solving skills needed to qualify for entry-level employment or apprenticeship. Students work to complete the American Welding Society (AWS) Sense – Entry Level I Welder Qualification.
“I went on the field trip to BOCES last year and they let me try Welding when I was there and I just fell in love with it,” Aaden said. “The people at BOCES are really nice and I feel relaxed when I am in the booth.”
Upon program completion, students are prepared to seek employment or proceed with more advanced training at a technical school or college. Aaden says he would like a career someday as a welder or motorcycle mechanic.
