The 16 SSCS members of the FFA traveled to Camp Oswegatchie in Croghan, New York on Nov. 2 for an overnight trip to participate in a program on teamwork and leadership.

Students spent time outdoors working together on low ropes elements then challenged themselves further on the high ropes. The goal of this program is to get students to work together and challenge themselves outside their comfort zone.

FFA stands for Future Farmers of America. FFA is a youth organization that prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Hands-on experiences like the rope challenges helps FFA members develop their potential and gives them the tools to achieve real-world success.

The Oswegatchie Educational Center is owned and operated by the New York FFA Leadership Training Foundation, Inc. Its mission is to provide youth and adults with meaningful experiences in leadership training, environmental education, and outdoor recreation.

Attending the leadership trip with SSCS Advisors Anne Allen and Dan Cornwell were students (Grade 6) Jaxon Insogna, Joseph Pizza and Maison Scott; (Grade 7) Maya Korona and Daniel Jones; (Grade 8) Sophia Insogna, Payton Rullman, Alivia Smith and Alyssa Smith; (Grade 9) Gabriella Stevens; (Grade 10) Ava Bissonette, Emily Gwozdz, Angela Gwozdz, Dylan Jones, Sean Shults and Macord Stevens.
